Photography allowed me to experiment more and became an outlet for the thoughts, ideas, and concepts I wanted to express.
I define myself as a nomad as for the past 3 years I’ve been travelling as a freelance photographer and videographer, some of the places where I lived that completely changed my perspective about my life and my work are Sri Lanka, Portugal, Netherlands, Canada, Morocco, US.
As many say, discomfort is where change and growth occur. Hence, I consider myself to be a travelling soul, someone that enjoys jumping from one place to the next to see what story is there to be told, whose life I can portray or document, and in the meantime, my vision can be expressed limitlessly.
In fact, this may be my favourite aspect of photography: one never knows what the result will be. This infinite vision also means that as every person is different, every place has a different vibe or back story, and every photographed person has a different perspective of who I am as a person, the result greatly depends on how much they believe in my work, my ability and hence the extent to which they let me experiment. Connections are built and creativity emerges from the final pictures the same way that while I travel or work on my personal projects, deeper connections emerge between the people I meet, the places I visit, and the events I experience. Ultimately, this is how impactful photography takes place– through vulnerability, connections, and ultimately, depth.
